Business activity
- Horsell's Farm Enterprises is a consulting firm established in 1999 when Roger and his wife expanded their farm and decided to work to make grass once again
into a profitable product. Our solution is to turn grass into ideas. Roger and Sophie's work is put done through Horsell's Farm Enterprises and between them they have worked for the following organisations:
- JT International for whom they edited and produced The Risk of Freedom Briefing
- Somerfield Stores for whom they advised on establishing a line of local produce e.g. West Country meat in our area
- opendemocracy.net a website where global issues are discussed in a way that transcends political distinctions of left and right
- Claridge Press Ltd was first established in 1982 to publish a book about Czechoslovakia, describing censorship and repression under Communism. The Press soon received requests from other authors unable to find publishers for their work. Over a period of 20 years Claridge Press developed an impressive list that included a series entitled Thinkers of Our Time (short introductions to important, but often overlooked thinkers e.g. Michael Oakeshott). Shortly before Claridge Press was sold to Continuum Internaional it completed its list with two translations by Geoffrey Newsome from the Czech of works by Karel Capek called Letters from England and A Gardeners Year available now from Continuum.
- Central European Consulting was founded in 1990 to offer advice to businesses entering the unfamiliar environment of post-communist Central Europe. The business is owned and managed by directors based in the region and Roger no longer plays an active role in the company.
- Montpelier Strategy LLC was established in 2004 in the USA to support the maintenance of the property Roger and Sophie purchased in Virginia. The business is devoted to promoting the Montpelier as a venue for special occasions such as weddings and receptions.
